Podcast Descrption 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I haven't been able to figure out (or find on these message boards) how to change the description of my podcast (not for individual shows, but the general description that appears if you search my show in the iTunes store and as the description of the show in iTunes) from "my regular podcast" to what my show is really about. I am using version 1.5.6 and can't find it anywhere in article manager nor the Podcast Suite.

Also, I know how to change the description of regular shows, but it then shows up on my website. Is there a way to hide this on my website and have it only appear in iTunes? I would like to avoid having several lines of text below each podcast link on my website as it looks ugly.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for using the suite! The controls for the overall feed are found under the Parameters button when you go to the backend of the Podcast Suite where all of the files are listed.

The idea behind Podcast Suite is that it is closely tied to the Joomla article system. If you need a different display mechanism for the podcast episodes on your site, you'll need to do that in separate articles. You should be able to use {player ...} the same way you use {enclose ...} in separate articles to get the effect you're talking about.

Thanks for the info. I went into Parameters in the Podcast Suite as you recommended. I made many changes, but only a couple have taken affect when I search for my podcast in iTunes (I even waited 24 hours as I know some stuff takes time before it changes on their end). Category 1 did change, as I wanted it to. But, title, image, description and others did not change. If there is a specific location on this website with FAQs for getting your podcasts to work properly with iTunes please let me know. And thanks again for your help.

Honestly, getting things to change in the iTunes Podcast Directory can be voodoo at times. If you can post a link to your feed and what's supposed to be in the fields, I'd be happy to take a look.

I waited to reply to your post to see if iTunes did correct what is missing, but that didn't happen for all of the issues.

The subscription URL for my podcast is: http://www.tiltedtalk.com/index.php?option=com_podcast&view=feed&format=raw&Itemid=27

You can also find it by searching "Tilted Talk" in the iTunes store.

The issues are with:

1) Podcast Description. The description I set in Parameters is "Why should you care? Because it's your money they're wasting." The description in the iTunes store as well as on my iTunes when I subscribe to my podcast is still "My regular podcast."

2) Title. In Parameters I set it to "Tilted Talk Radio with Domagoy and DJ Turrtle" and I do not see this anywhere on the iTunes store nor my iTunes when subscribing to my show.

3) Graphic. If you search "Tilted Talk" in the iTunes store, my graphic doesn't appear in the search results. But if you click on the generic graphic in the search results for more info on my podcast, the graphic will appear. Furthermore, the info in the search results do not 100% match the info that appears when you select that show. Likely Voodoo.

4) # items. I set this to 500. I am not aware what his is for...

Thanks for all of your help.

Domagoj

I took a look at your feed. The feed http://www.tiltedtalk.com/index.php?option=com_podcast&view=feed&format=raw&Itemid=27 has the default description and summary. The title is Tilted Talk Podcast. However, when I take off &Itemid=27, all of the content you're describing appears. What's happening is that the link you created to Podcast Suite is overriding the Parameters on the Manage Clips screen. To fix this, go to the menu item you linked and change the settings under Parameters (Component).

The # items controls how many podcast episodes appear in your feed. It's usually good to keep this at a lower number so that your listing doesn't get cluttered with months and years worth of podcasts.
